Welcome to the 2020 Will County Virtual Dog Show! We are so excited to be able to still offer this exhibit opportunity for youth! Please see the documentation below and let us know if you have any questions!
Like general projects, you will be submitting your dog entry(ies) on the FairEntry Platform - for instructions on submitting, visit our submit project page. Video requirements, revised guidelines for virtual shows, and resources can be found below - please read this entire page!
We have also added the additional class of "Dog Care" for individuals who would simply like to show their dog (not have the dog participate in any obedience classes).
If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Additional requirements:
In addition to the requirements listed above, please see the following:
- CAMERA SET UP: You will need to have the recording device/camera to your left side (dog side) and sound on. If possible, MOUNT the camera onto a tripod (to reduce shaking). If you must have someone hold the camera, please instruct them to move as LITTLE as possible.
- YOUR VIDEO MUST NOT BE MUTED: You must record your video with sound ON. If you submit your video with no sound, the judge must assume that you have given additional voice commands and your entry will be penalized appropriately.
- RING SIZE & SET UP: The smallest ring must be at least 25’ X 25’ and the largest is 40’ X 30’ (with the longest distance for the fast). You are encouraged to adjust the ring size up for larger dogs - not to exceed 40' x 30'. When you set up your "ring", you can have the signs lay on the ground or floor in the suggested pattern or have a parent call out the signs. You will have the Start Sign so the dog left side is facing the camera (dog sitting in heal position on handlers left side). Call signs can be downloaded and printed below.
- PATTERN: As far as a pattern for all of the obedience classes, have all of your kids do this pattern:
- Forward, Halt (midway between start and corner), Left turn, Slow (about ¼ of the way from the turn), Normal (covers about ½ of the distance between corners), About Turn, Halt (about ½ of the way between corners), Forward, Right turn, Fast (about ¼ of the distance from the turn), Normal (about ¼ from the end of the ring), Halt (at end of ring). For a diagram of this pattern, see below in the resources section.
- EXAMINES: For sit for examination, stand for examination or moving stand for examination, a parent, sibling, or someone that the dog will not react to by moving will touch the dog's head for the sit for examine. They will touch the dog's head, body (middle back area) and hindquarters (3 touches) for stand for examine. The Utility moving stand they will start at the withers to slide hands down each side of the dog but not touch the tail or underneath. Your volunteer SHOULD NOT speak to the dog in ANY way.
- STAY AND GET YOUR LEASH: The leash will be placed at end of the ring on a chair or small table. Please make sure your dog is on the opposite end of the ring from the leash and chair/table. It can be done diagonally facing the camera or horizontally on back side of the ring so the dog side profile is facing the camera. Please make sure you can be seen leaving and returning to your dog with leash in hand until commanded to put on the leash and exercise finished with dog sitting the whole time.
